Why Datascope Consulting creates add on software packages which integrate with SYSPRO
With the automotive industry becoming more globally competitive, OEM's are actively driving down prices resulting in lower margins.
To add to the supply chain complexity, OEM's demand on their first and second tier suppliers continually shifts. This ultimately
results in these suppliers holding much higher inventory levels to ensure that they never stop the OEM's production.
Vast amounts of information called releases flow from the OEM's on a regular basis to their suppliers. Based on this information,
inventory flows in to the OEM's. The key therefore to suppliers holding optimum inventory is the ability to process this information
effectively.
Datascope Consulting has developed a set of SYSPRO integrated tools which automatically upload these releases into SYSPRO. This helps to reduce
inventory holding by assisting suppliers to improve demand visibility, reduce the planning cycle, improve production scheduling, the
automatic release of purchase orders, better inventory controls, task automation and management analysis and measurement tools. The
benefits of all of these tools are discussed in detail on the main page.

EDI
Over the past five years Datascope Consulting have implemented a number of EDI systems for various industries.
Two industries that stand out are the Cosmetics and Automotive industries.Within the Cosmetics industry Datascope
has development a number of fully integrated EDI systems directly into SYSPRO from EDI file handling, file format
error checking, stock code and customer validation checking to importing the orders as sales orders, giving various
order screening and release functionality into SYSPRO sales orders, and finally the management of sending EDI invoiced
data files back to the customers. This solution has been implemented in two of South Africa’s largest cosmetic suppliers
where volumes of orders received in a day can exceed five thousand orders.Within the Automotive industry Datascope have
developed standard release import and export tools (the detail of these can be found in the Automotive tools section below).
Other non-SYSPRO tools have also been developed to optimize material supply directly to an Automotive Assemblers production
line on a JIS (just in sequence), JIT (just in time) and Kanban basis. Further, a number of our large software developments
for the logistics industries make extensive use of EDI, examples of which are; material call-offs, e-waybills , advance
shipping notices and requests for transport.
Planning | Forecasting
Datascope have developed a fully integrated forecasting tool for SYSPRO. Although the design of the system is fairly
simple it is very effective where a company needs to forecast at planning family level with various preset trends such as
cyclical trend, economic growth trends and so on. The system has functionality to set demand at these family levels and
the to automatically split the demand over a rolling year into weekly buckets and to import these directly into SYSPRO’s
forecasting module at standard finished goods SKU level. At the end of each month the software will calculate the actual
sales recorded at finished goods level and aggregate this back up to family level for reporting purposes.
